Playing with balloons and painting are two of my daughter's favorite things to do, so we decided to make balloon printed postcards to invite her friends to a simple balloon party at our house.
I cut a piece of 8.5" x 11" cardstock paper in half widthwise. On one side, I drew lines for a postcard.
I filled four plastic plates with washable tempura paint.
I blew up a balloon "stamp" for each color.
We did this project on top of a drop cloth on the floor. I placed a postcard on a cookie sheet and let Sophia start stamping away. It was a bit messy, but it was worth it!
The prints turned out so vibrant and had a bit of texture to them. Once they dried, I wrote a simple invitation to Sophia's friends inviting them to our house for a balloon party to play Paper Plate Tennis and eat pizza. She helped with the wording. Then, we addressed each postcard and went to the post office to mail them off. My daughter loved buying stamps and placing a stamp on each postcard. This was such a meaningful activity in many ways. We can't wait for the balloon party next week!
